AI Supplementary Terms

1. What these terms cover

These AI Supplementary Terms apply when you use Arcavelo’s AI features (the “AI Features”). Today those are:

• Syllabus import, which reads a syllabus or course schedule you upload and drafts classes, grading breakdowns, meeting times, and assignments for you to review; and
• Arc, the advisor, which answers questions about your classes, assignments, grades, schedule, and saved syllabus extractions, can use optional routine preferences you save to personalize its plans, can research relevant current information on the public web, and can prepare changes for you to confirm.

These terms are part of the Terms of Service. If they conflict with the Terms of Service on a point about the AI Features, these terms control.

2. Who provides the AI

The AI Features are powered by large language models provided by Anthropic. We may change the model or the provider over time, and we will update the Subprocessors page and the Privacy Policy before sending your data to a new provider. Exactly what each feature sends, and how the provider handles it, is set out in the Privacy Policy under “AI features.”

3. Input and output

“Input” is what you give an AI Feature, such as an uploaded file or a question to Arc, together with the Arcavelo data the feature reads to answer it. “Output” is what the AI Feature gives back.

• Ownership. As between you and us, you own your Input and Output. We do not claim any rights in them beyond the license in the Terms of Service to run the Service for you.
• No training. We do not use your Input or Output to train AI models, and our provider’s commercial terms prohibit it from doing so.
• Your rights to Input. You must have the right to use anything you upload or send. A syllabus is usually your instructor’s or school’s copyrighted work; importing one you received for a class, for your own planning, is the intended use. Do not upload material you are not allowed to use.
• Output may not be unique. Other users may receive similar Output for similar Input, and your ownership of Output does not extend to other users’ similar Output.

4. Accuracy and your responsibility

AI Output can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date, even when it sounds confident. Syllabus import can misread dates, weights, or assignments, and Arc can misunderstand a question or state something incorrect. Output is a planning aid, not an official record and not advice from your school.

You are responsible for reviewing Output before relying on it. Always check grades, deadlines, schedules, and degree requirements against your syllabus and your school’s official records. Arc calculates grades and GPA with Arcavelo’s own calculator rather than the AI, but those figures are only as accurate as what you have entered.

Output is not academic, legal, medical, financial, or mental-health advice. If you are in crisis or need help urgently, contact your school’s support services or local emergency services.

5. Nothing changes without your confirmation

The AI Features cannot change your data on their own. Syllabus import produces a draft that reaches your classes only after you review and confirm it. Arc can prepare a Google Calendar event or a move of an existing writable timed event, a new assignment, or a change to a class, but nothing is added or changed until you review it. Arc can read your Google Calendar to answer questions, but it never deletes calendar events and cannot move read-only or all-day events.

You are responsible for the changes you confirm, including events Arcavelo adds to or moves on your Google Calendar at your direction.

6. Academic integrity

Arcavelo is built to help you plan and stay organized, not to do graded work for you. Schools set their own rules on using AI. You are responsible for knowing and following your school’s and each instructor’s rules, and for how you use any Output in your coursework. We are not responsible for academic consequences of how you use the AI Features.

7. Allowances and availability

Each plan includes an allowance of syllabus imports and Arc messages, shown on the plans page. Unused allowance does not roll over to the next period and has no cash value. Each paid plan also has a monthly AI usage limit on the processing one account can use, counting imports and Arc messages together, because some requests (such as a long scanned syllabus, a long plan, or web research) require much more processing than others. Ordinary use stays well within it.

The AI Features stop at whichever limit you reach first: your message or import allowance, or your monthly AI usage limit. The allowances are the most you can use, not an amount you are guaranteed to be able to use. If your account reaches its monthly AI usage limit, the AI Features pause for your account until the next monthly window, even if you have messages or imports left. The app tells you when you are close to the usage limit and may not be able to use all of your remaining allowance. If this happens to a paid plan in a way that meaningfully reduces what you paid for, email support@arcavelo.app and we will make it right.

The AI Features depend on an outside provider and may be slow, limited, or unavailable at times. We may change, limit, or discontinue an AI Feature. If we discontinue an AI Feature that is part of a paid plan, the Subscription and Refund Policy explains your options.

8. Rules for using the AI Features

The Acceptable Use Policy applies, including its section on the AI Features. You must also follow Anthropic’s Usage Policy, since the AI Features run on Anthropic’s models. We may limit or turn off your access to the AI Features if you break these rules.
